Families visiting the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest area over the summer holidays will be given a glimpse of the local environment at a special display at Tea Gardens Library throughout January.
The display space was offered by MidCoast Libraries staff as a way of showcasing for residents and visitors alike what is happening locally in the natural world and what environment resources are available in the library.
The display case has three levels of content, with a small bush diorama and information about koalas and other wildlife, as well as leaflets explaining the work of the Myall Koala and Environment Group, MKEG.
The group’s publicist Adrienne Ingram said: “The display is a great opportunity to make links between the area, our wildlife volunteers and visitors who come to enjoy our natural diversity.
“We have a lot to be proud of and much to share.”
The display will also contain information about the new Hawks Nest Nature Walk, an easy 6.5 km figure-of-eight looping walk around the village, with information about significant natural features at various points on the walk.
Maps of the walk will be available on leaflets and are on the MKEG website www.myallkoala.org. They can also be downloaded to mobile devices using QR codes on the library display and at locations around Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest.
