Cool Summer Art Exhibition
Open:
Saturday, 8 January 2022 - Monday, 31 January
(excludes Tuesdays)
Opening night:
Friday 7, January 5:00pm (Free entry)
Due to COVID there will be limited numbers inside the gallery to only eight people.
Myall Koala and Environment Group is partnering local arts organisation Galleries in the Gardens (GIG) by sponsoring their 2022 Cool Summer exhibition themed “Celebrating Nature around the Myall”. GIG organisers said: "This is an expansive theme and we have only to open our eyes to find inspiration. "
GIG encourages everyone to join them at the opening night Friday 7th January 5pm for a sociable and friendly community evening, starting at 5 pm at the Gallery on Marine Drive, Tea Gardens.
GIG said they were extremely pleased to announce that the MKEG is sponsoring this year’s Cool Summer exhibition.
"As a result of this generous sponsorship, there will be one 1st prize for 2D work and another for ceramic/sculpture exhibits," said GIG publicist Cathriona Kelly . "The judge is an independent artist from outside the area."
MKEG fosters preservation of the locally endangered koala population, is actively involved in protecting the Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens environment, as well as monitoring development proposals on the Myall Coast, both appropriate and inappropriate.
"GIG is pleased to be associated with them," Cathriona said.
MKEG will be raffling two large paintings to raise funds, one of them was donated and produced by GIG. Tickets will be sold until the draw at Easter and will also be available online. MKEG will have a table at the opening and then at the Gallery during January, staffed by volunteers, as something additional for visitors to look at in a setting focused on our natural world and the work of local environmentalists.
At the opening, GIG will also raffle a large basket of gourmet goodies, donated by their members. Funds raised will go to Wildlife in Need of Care (WINC), the local animal rescue group, tickets available from The Gallery.
The Gallery is at 81 Marine Drive Tea Gardens, on the waterfront opposite the ferry wharf.
Gallery Opening Hours are10:00am to 4:00pm – Wednesday to Sundays
Entry to the Gallery is free and wheelchair access is available
