A lovely sunny morning today in Hawks Nest for the Bitou Busters to work along The Myall Riverbank after a windy, rainy week!
The morning started with an expert in the local plants of the area, Sharon Taylor, who gave a short ‘show and tell’ demonstration of the weeds and natives that inhabit the scrub behind the mangroves along Moira Parade where the fourteen Bitou Buster volunteers would be working.
The weeds that were found were bitou bush, many varieties of asparagus fern, mother-of-millions, morning glory, polygala, lantana, white cedar, sedum, flowering ivy, NZ Christmas bell, spider lily, freesias and watsonia.
Meanwhile, four volunteers worked diligently on another section of The Boulevarde on mature Agave.
Well done all!
Some volunteers found it hard to break away for the end of session attendance photo, before a well-earned coffee and debriefing at Benchmark, Hawks Nest.
Trish Blair the Bitou Buster organiser told the volunteers not to worry, as those weeds, left behind today will be waiting patiently for the next weeding session in September!
