A Perfect Morning for Weed Control
After a short but windy storm around midnight, the morning turned out beautifully sunny with only light winds—perfect conditions for tackling weeds along The Anchorage in the open sheoak forest.
A bright and enthusiastic group of 15 BBs made quick work of the task. Together they felled a small forest of Polygala, removed entrenched asparagus fern in all stages of maturity, and tackled the occasional bitou plant. A few lucky volunteers struck the “jackpot” with particularly large patches of asparagus fern—our apologies and sincere thanks for your persistence!
The team was so productive that we were able to finish ahead of time, although it did take a little while to retrieve a few members who had ventured deep into the far corners of the work area.
Afterwards we gathered at Benchmark, where coffee and conversation flowed freely well into lunchtime.
Next Saturday session is planned for 23 May, and there will be a commando raid before then, will confirm shortly.
